Using Sheets To Make Duvet Covers
If you have been trying tobuy a duvet cover then you probably well shocked to find out about how expensive the process can be. Well the next best option is to just do it yourself. Below I share a few insights on how you can do this.
As a starter the outcome may not be the best quality like the “buy cheap” duvet sets you find in retail shops but the exercise can really be rewarding and self filling. The first hurdle you are probably going to encounter is that of making the perfect insertion point i.e. where the sheets are inserted. You may have a challenge in closing off the top where you have your closures.
To try and assist you with this, start by organizing the sheets. Look for material that will suite your taste and style – For instance if you interested in a microsuede duvet cover then it’s best you get the matching material. Pin the side and the bottom before moving on to the top section. Then after you can also think about how to fold the top sides.
Make the buttonholes at the top right. This should be exactly where the two sheet ends are joined together. You do have an option to use ribbons if you love them. If the sheet is longer than the quilt then fold it down on one side – about 12 inches. The next step is to then stitch it up on the sides to make it look like an envelope closure.
When it comes to choosing the closure you can go for Velcro if you like something stiff, a zipper, snap tape or just snaps. I suggest you consider nylon zippers if you are looking for something more convenient and easy to handle.
